Chapter 2 at Brooklyn Bowl 8.4.09
Chapter 2 christened the Brooklyn Bowl a few weeks back, bringing the Royal Family rage to a brand new, environmentally friendly music venue/bowling alley/Blue Ribbon eatery right in the heart of Williamsburg Brooklyn. The Bowl, a converted iron works factory, is the new brainchild of Peter Schapiro (owner of the late and great Wetlands rock club). His new LEED-certified space houses 600 ragers AND 16 bowling lanes for a unique live music experience.
DJ Logic was in the house, spinning tunes before the set and later joined the guys for killer renditions of Curtis Mayfield's "Move on Up" and Tears for Fears' "Everybody Wants to Rule the World". Cheme Gastelum (Budos Band, Robert Walter) and Casey Benjamin (Q-Tip, Mos Def) came thru to add some horns to the mix. Throughout the night Bobby Deitch held it down on the congas, while guest bassist Chris Loftlin (Brian McKnight) filled out the low end.
