RIP Phelps "Catfish" Collins'

On August 6th we lost one of the greatest funk guitarists of all time. He was an original member of The Pacemakers and was later hired by James Brown to join the JB's. Many know his brother Bootsy but some may not know that Catfish was the guitarist on classic recordings like "Super Bad", "Get Up (I Feel Like Being A) Sex Machine", "Soul Power", and "Give It Up or Turnit a Loose" (All of which have been played  by Soulive over the years).

He later joined Parliament, Funkadelic (he was on "America Eats Its Young among other records) and later was in Bootsy's Rubber Band. His style and technique influenced myself and MANY other funk and rhythm guitarists out there. Here's a lil taste of classic Catfish......
